Strangely, due solely to the exploits of Eddie Edwards, ski jumping has had a fair about of mainstream media coverage in the UK in comparison to other snow sports in which we've had a lot more competitors.

Although most of this coverage has been focused on Eddie's story, it's worth pointing out that even before he hit the jumps the BBC would regularly include the Four Hills Tournament in its Christmas and new year schedule in the early 80s, a real treat for British snow-sport fans before the advent of Eurosport.

In the 2010s the sport returned to the nation's attention with Channel 4's celebrity ski-jumping/winter-sports programme 'The Jump', as well as a cinema release Eddie the Eagle starring Taron Egerton and Hollywood A-listers Hugh Jackman and Christopher Walken.

The FIS run the annual World Cup competition for the sport, whilst the Four Hills Tournament provides the annual glamour, and the Winter Olympics becoming the pinnacle for these incredible athletes every four years. Anyway, here's a quick guide to the sport of Ski Jumping, with details of the main competitions and events.
