Located on the eastern side of Switzerland, in Graubunden, Flims is a small resort that has seen something of a surge in popularity in recent years thanks to it's marketing alongside one of Europe's most up-and-coming resorts - neighbouring Laax. Whilst Laax has become one of Switzerland's most vibrant, modern resorts, particularly popular amongst the country's young snowboarders, Flims has retained a more traditional village feel.
Even though it's usually referred to simply as Flims, the resort is actually made up of two centres - Flims Dorf and Flims Waldhaus. Flims Dorf is the more traditional of the two areas and the location of the original village centre and most of the amenities (including the main lift station up to Plaun), whereas 100m above it sits Flims Waldhaus, with it's slightly more modern feel and most of the hotels, including a smattering of upmarket ones.
Both Flims and Laax (and also Falera - another, even smaller resort) share the same ski area, known as the White Arena ski area.
