Baffled by the amount of ski manufacturers out there ?
Read on for our guide to the top brands...
The very idea of a British company designing and creating skis sounds barmy.
We may have pioneered the sport but our green winters and lack of serious mountains
gives us a major disadvantage over the alpine nations who have traditionally
dominated this market.
But Derbsyhire-based Storm Skis have not let such things stop them and have created a flourishing business
with a great range of freestyle skis.

HEAD seems to be the ski of choice for many of the top racers at the moment, with big names like
Didier Cuche, Lindsey Vonn, Aksel Lund Svindal, Bode Miller, Maria Reisch all using HEAD skis.
So it's no surprise that HEAD skis have won more world cup races than any other ski in recent years.
The company is now Austrian based and listed on the WBAG (the Vienna Stock Exchange) but was actually formed
back in 1950 by Howard Head, an American aircraft engineer from Baltimore who created the first metal ski.
He quickly started up Head and started manufacturing the skis en masse. By the late 60s the company had also
branched out into tennis, introducing aluminium frames. The company was bought out
and taken over several times in the 80's and 90's before current chairman Johan Eliasch took it over in 1995.
